Public Dialogue at Europe House on ‘Empowering Women against Violence’
The European Parliament Information Office in Malta and the MCWO organised a public dialogue entitled ‘Empowering Women against Violence’ on Friday 30th March. Government urged to introduce gender quotas as Malta has lowest number of women on boards in EU
The Malta Confederation of Women’s Organisations (MCWO) urged the Maltese government to take up the challenge and follow in the footsteps of other EU member states – notably Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain – that have adopted legislation to introduce gender quotas for company boards. More women in economic decision-making needed
To mark International Women’s Day the Malta Confederation of Women’s Organisations (MCWO) would like to emphasise the fact that according to a report just published by the European Commission, progress remains slow with regard to significant economic benefit from a better gender balance in economic decision-making. The confederation urged the government to take up the challenge and follow in the footsteps of other EU member states such as Belgium, France, Italy, Netherlands and Spain, which had adopted legislation to introduce gender quotas for company boards.
